I have been creating my personal images since my dad gave me his old 35mm camera when I was ten. I chose photography as my area of study in school, pursued mentors, and chose it as my vocation as well as avocation. I have sporadically had some success promoting them over the years, but my commercial photo career, that I needed to support my 'art habit', left little time to follow through. Now that I am retired from that, I have the time to pursue, what I consider to be, my true calling and find other avenues of getting them out there.
There are a few ongoing themes that crop up, but I mostly just live my life, keep a camera in tow, and shoot what catches my attention and look for themes later. As they used to say in the old westerns: 'Shoot first and ask questions later'.
I believe my drive to capture the light reflected from synchronous moments in space and time comes from trying to illustrate concepts that I have intuitively understood since a near death experience as a child, but could not otherwise describe. My hope is that you, the viewer, can glean from them a little of those intangible concepts of balance, interconnectivity, and universality that I see in them. Or that they just resonate with you and make you feel good. And, if so, I hope I can provide you with a print that will allow you to sustain that feeling.
